How it works
A Sukanya Samriddhi account can be opened for a girl below 10 years. You deposit ₹250 to ₹1.5 lakh a year for 15 years; the account matures 21 years after it was opened, earning interest all the while.
The rate is 8.2% for October–December 2026, compounded yearly. Deposits qualify for the 80C deduction in the old regime, and the interest and maturity amount are tax-free.
